PhD Defence of Albert Maimó-Barceló
Nov 5th 2021 - Palma, Balearic Islands
On Nov 5th, Albert Maimó-Barceló defended his thesis entitled "Use of lipid fingerprint for the identification of new biomarkers and therapeutic in colon cancer".
Dr. José Andrés Fernández (University of the Basque Country), Dr. Takeshi Harayama (CNRS-Institute of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology ), and Dr. Maria Fedorova ( University of Dresden) were the members of my tribunal.
2nd International Workshop on Translational Cancer Research
October 21 - 22, 2021 - Palma, Balearic Islands
The “2nd International Workshop on Translational Cancer Research” took place in the Son Espases University Hospital, Palma, Spain, last October. The main goal of this meeting was to expose oncologists and investigators to state-of-the-art translational cancer research and treatments and strengthen networks of collaborations among oncologists and basic scientists working all around the world, providing opportunities to establish new collaborations among research laboratories and medical centers. The meeting was organized in two days that involve four scientific sessions:
1- Computational biology and artificial intelligence in cancer research,
2- Therapeutic and diagnostic advances in cancer,
3- Molecular and cell biology cancer research, and
4- Short communications from fellows and early-career cancer researchers.
October 12 - 15, 2021 - Utrecht, The Netherlands
The 61st ICBL meeting was held in the historical city center of Utrecht in the Netherlands from Oct 12th till Oct 15th, 2021. The theme of was: "Emerging Lipid Technologies – from molecular species to health and disease".
Albert's abstract was chosen for oral presentation, "Exploring the transcriptomic regulation of MALDI-IMS membrane lipid distribution in human colonocyte differentiation and colon cancer" while Maria and Karim presented two posters: "Impact of Inflammatory Bowel Disease on colon epithelial lipidome established by MALDI-IMS" and
Stem cells and Cancer Conference
Nov 2020
The meeting was organized by Dr. E Batlle and Dr. H. Clevers. The conference provided an interdisciplinary forum for researchers interested in the connections between stem cell biology and cancer to meet and discuss the latest advances in this field. Specific topics to be discussed include stem cell metabolism, the interaction of healthy and tumor stem cells with the immune environment and the roles of CSCs during metastasis and therapy resistance.
