Since 2005, I have developed a sustained research career as a specialist in big data analysis and multi-omic project design in biomedicine and immunology in various national and international research centers. My earliest studies were focused on regenerative medicine and embryonic stem cells, participating as a visiting researcher in the laboratory of Dr. José B. Cibelli at the Michigan State University, where I stayed for four years. At the end of this period, I returned to Spain to finish my Ph.D. at the University of Oviedo. In this final phase of my doctoral period, I focused on studying how epigenetic mechanisms regulate the dedifferentiation processes of tumor cells, work that culminated in the presentation of my doctoral thesis, directed by Dr. Mario Fraga in The University Institute of Oncology of Asturias (IUOPA).
After completing my Ph.D. in 2015, I started my postdoctoral training in the Department of Immunology of the University Hospital of Asturias under the supervision of Carlos Lopez-Larrea, a pioneer in the study of histocompatibility and autoimmunity with over 200 indexed scientific articles published. In 2017, I was awarded a Juan de la Cierva-Formación grant to study the epigenetic mechanisms associated with immunity and, in 2019, I obtained a Juan de la Cierva-Incoporación grant. Since then, I have established an independent line of research to study how the epigenomic networks contribute to the cellular differentiation processes associated with immune response and how these molecular mechanisms can be exploited as therapeutic targets for the treatment of autoimmune diseases and cancer. I supervised one undergraduate degree project and one master's degree project during this period. In addition, I have been a member of the Network of Kidney Diseases (REDINREN) of The Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII), of the Spanish Immunology society since 2015, and of the bank of collaborating experts of The State Research Agency (Agencia Estatal de Investigación, AEI) since 2021. Finally, I have obtained several technical accreditations, including the Laboratory animal science for researchers level B (ICSCYL) and Flow cytometry operator (Becton Dickinson).
